THE HAYAL

Firm: Track of stones, stretches of earth and leaf litter.

A hayal, is a forest formed by beech (Fagus sylvatica), a beech forest. From Lanzasagudas, the last council in which the bear lived in Carranza, we will know the most extensive beech forest in Bizkaia, the Balgerri beech forest. After facing a slope through the limits of the beech forest to one of the old corrals that abound in the area, we will enter the forest, with trees of complicated shapes, molded by charcoal burners. After walking on the leaves that cover the entire floor, we will leave the forest to walk among heather and argomas. Area used by beekeepers to obtain one of the purest honeys that can be found. The descent will be among oaks that little by little, are gaining ground to the heather.
